Cemeteries
There are several cemeteries and churchyards in the local area. Not all have space for new burials, although many that are full may still offer interment of ashes following a cremation. If you have a particular cemetery or churchyard in mind, this may be a factor to consider when deciding between burial and cremation.
Easthill Cemetery is the largest cemetery in Frome, located opposite ASDA. It is managed and maintained by Somerset Council.

Green and Woodland Burials
An alternative to a traditional burial that has gained popularity in recent years is a Green or Woodland Burial. These burials must take place in coffins or shrouds made from sustainable, biodegradable materials such as natural wood, woven materials (like bamboo, willow, seagrass, wool), or cardboard. Unlike traditional cemeteries, natural burial grounds are often located in rural, scenic areas, such as woodlands or meadows, where the aim is to preserve or even enhance the environment.
Markers are typically simple, if used at all, with some burial grounds opting for natural features like trees or wildflowers instead of headstones. This approach not only helps to conserve the landscape but also encourages biodiversity. Some natural burial sites allow families to plant a tree or scatter seeds at the gravesite, creating a living memorial that contributes to the health of the environment.
The local option for a natural burial in this area is Bath Natural Burial Meadow, located in Midford, near Bath.
